The Nasdaq fell 0.33% to 3,057 in midday trading Tuesday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.61% to 13,011.
The S&P 500 was off 0.42% to 1,401.
The yield on a 10-year treasury bond rose 1.41% to 1.58%.
The price of gold was up 0.53% to $1,697.
Shares of Anaheim-based Questcor Pharmaceuticals Inc. rose about 10% to $48 for a recent market cap of $3 billion. The drug maker said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday that it is eligible for a lower Medicaid rebate rate on its core drug Acthar Gel.
Irvine printed circuit board maker Multi-Fineline Electronix Inc., known as M-Flex, was down 4% to $23 for a market value of about $553 million. M-Flex competitor Flextronics International Ltd., with U.S. headquarters in Milpitas, was also down about 2% to $7 for a recent market capitalization of $4 billion.
