The Nasdaq was down 0.97% to 2,862.21 in midday trading, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was off 1.25% to 12,562.03.
The S&P 500 was down 1.24% to 1,333.72.
The yield on a 10-year treasury bond fell 2.58% to 1.4%.
Gold prices fell 0.05% to $1,576.60 per ounce.
Orange County’s public companies were generally mixed in midday trading.
Shares of Santa Ana-based data and analytics company CoreLogic Inc. were up 12.43% to $23.34 a day after the company reported gains on revenue and profit for the June quarter compared with the year-ago period.
CoreLogic had a recent market value of $2.5 billion.
Shares of Costa Mesa ceramic-based products maker Ceradyne Inc. were down 5.4% to $20.48 after it reported disappointing results for the second quarter. Ceradyne has a market value of about $498 million.
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software Inc. was down 8.43% to $1.63, with a recent market value of about $59 million.
Irvine-based CombiMatrix Corp. was down 9.24% to $0.68, with a market value of about $7 million.
