The S&P 500 was up 0.74% to 1,424 in midday trading Monday.
The Nasdaq rose 0.74% to 2,993, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.44% to 13,193.
The yield on a 10-year treasury bond was up 2.52% to 1.75%.
The price of gold rose 0.04% to $1,696 per ounce.
Irvine-based Standard Pacific Corp. was up about 6% to $7 for a market value of $2.4 billion. Homebuilders were generally up in afternoon trading Monday.
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software Inc. was up about 20% to $1.50, after investor website Seeking Alpha published an article calling the company’s stock a 2013 turnaround story. Smith Micro had a recent market value of $52 million.
