Woods Cove Inn Adds Parable Hospitality as New Management

Laguna Beach property owned by Blake Marriott and Spencer Samuelian set to reopen on May 11 after transition

Woods Cove Inn in Laguna Beach, owned by Blake Marriott and Spencer Samuelian, will reopen on May 11 following a change in management.

The 22-room boutique hotel was previously overseen by Colorado-based Sonder. Marriott and Samuelian have now appointed Aliso Viejo-based Parable Hospitality, formerly known as Pacifica Hotels, to lead operations and marketing.

The 7,118-square-foot property was previously known as the Laguna Beach Inn, open since 1929, according to CoStar. Marriott and Samuelian acquired the motel in 2020 and after a sitewide renovation, reopened it in 2023 as Woods Cove.

“Having operated as a lodging destination for more than a century, we believe it is uniquely positioned to thrive as an independent hotel,” Marriott said in a statement.

Parable has appointed Didi Shields as general manager. Shields also runs the Bay Shores Peninsula Hotel in Newport Beach – another recently renovated property owned by Marriott and Samuelian that reopened in December.
