MemorialCare CEO Barry Arbuckle to Become Executive Chairman

Will be succeeded by President Dr. David Kim

MemorialCare today announced that Chief Executive Barry Arbuckle will become executive chairman, effective July 1. Current President Dr. David Kim will succeed him as CEO.
“MemorialCare is fortunate to have two extraordinary and proven leaders in Barry and David,” Resa Evans, chair of MemorialCare’s board of directors, said in a statement.
The leadership changes are part of a “deliberate and thoughtful succession planning process” initiated by Arbuckle and the board years ago, according to MemorialCare.
Arbuckle has served as CEO of the Fountain Valley-based health system with area hospitals including Orange Coast and Saddleback Medical Center since 2002. Kim was appointed president of MemorialCare last year and will retain his current position in addition to the new CEO role.
