Kia America Inc. of Irvine reported a 5% drop in June sales from the same period a year ago, with a total of 65,142 vehicles.
Leading the decline in sales were the K5 sedan, down 31%, Soul hatchback, off 35%, and Stinger sports sedan, down 49%.
Sales for the Sportage crossover SUV and Telluride SUV were up 20% and 21%, respectively.
“[The] strong initial sales performance of the all-new Sportage SUV continue to push the brand on its upward trajectory,” Kia Vice President, Sales Operations Eric Watson said in a statement. “We are confident that Kia will continue to outpace the industry well into the third quarter and through the rest of the year.”
