Sunrise Produce, an Anaheim-based wholesale distributor of fresh produce and perishable foods, acquired Family Tree Produce this month to help expand the company’s distribution footprint in Southern California. Â
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Â
“We are focused on strategic acquisitions that enable us to expand sourcing networks, strengthen logistics capabilities and improve service levels while navigating challenges such as labor shortages, transportation costs and weather-related supply disruptions,” Sunrise Chief Executive and President David Sapia said in a statement.Â
Sunrise Produce, founded more than 30 years ago by Paul Carone, moved headquarters in January from Fullerton to a 165,850-square-foot space in Anaheim, according to CoStar. The distributor is a portfolio company of Investcorp.
Family Tree Produce was founded by Fidel Guzman, a Mexican-born chef and restaurant owner, in 1975. Clients include Disneyland and Costco. Â
