Accounting

RSM McGladrey Inc., Anaheim, promoted Pat Murphy from managing director for the national tax group to executive vice president of tax services.

M. Todd McDonald and Kimberly Rush of the Costa Mesa KPMG office have been elected to the firm’s national partnership.


Advertising

Marshall Advertising and Design, Costa Mesa, hired Aaron Roddick as computer production artist. Roddick is a veteran of graphics production in full-time and freelance work and counts ABC, CBS, ESPN and Warner Bros. as previous clients.

Bates USA West, Irvine, hired Mike Hall as associate creative director, Shawn Wood as senior writer and Manuel Reyes as studio manager. Bates USA is an advertising and marketing firm with 162 offices and 7,000 employees worldwide.


Banking and Finance

Casey Horton was named associate at Irvine-based Ventana Global. Horton will be responsible for identifying potential investments for the firm’s international venture capital department.

U.S. Trust Co., Costa Mesa, promoted R. Clifford Carper to managing director of the Orange County office.

Christopher B. Radford joined Washington Mutual’s Irvine office as senior vice president of financial services group administration. Radford comes from Main Street Trading Co., where he was director of sales and training.


Construction

South Coast Electric Inc., Costa Mesa, appointed Bob Bishop vice president of operations. Previously, Bishop was with Anderson and Howard Electric.

Stephen Homberger was named vice president at Anaheim-based V & M Restoration Inc. Previously, Homberger was with MF Bank & Co. as a field representative.


Hospitality

Susan Valen, previously senior sales manager at the Doubletree Hotel Anaheim, was appointed sales manager at the Hilton Anaheim and Towers. Valen oversees specialty group meetings that require more than 200 guest rooms.

Hilton Anaheim and Towers named Nicole Hanson sales manager and Thomas Frei director of food and beverage. Hanson is a recent graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I., while Frei was previously director of food and beverage for the Hilton Waikoloa Village in Hawaii.


Manufacturing

Meade Instruments Corp., Irvine, named Michael P. Hoopis to its board. Hoopis is president and CEO of Water Pik Technologies Inc.


Marketing and Public Relations

NCG Porter Novelli, an Irvine public relations firm, hired Rick Davis and Michelle Tuchman as vice presidents, Karen Alvarado as counselor and Debbie Lowery as a senior associate.


Media

The Orange County Register named Joseph D. Schneider vice president of information technology. Schneider will lead the information services division with responsibility for the direction of all activities and staff training.


Nonprofits

Friends in Service to Humanity, Newport Beach, announced its new board of directors: Alan Fuji, president; Joanne Corrao and Dennis Schroeder, vice presidents; Bill Walters, chief financial officer; and Susan Gerke, secretary. FISH helps needy families and individuals in Orange County.

Melinda Masson of Laguna Beach was named to the Construction Industries Alliance Board for the City of Hope’s Orange County Chapter. Masson is the founder and CEO of Merit Property Management Inc., Mission Viejo.

Bonnie Hill, Rick E. Keller and Douglas H. Smith have been elected to the Orange County Performing Arts Center’s board of directors. Hill is president and CEO of The Times Mirror Foundation, while Keller is president and managing director of The Keller Group, Investment Management Inc.; Smith is a principal and director of Kinsmith Financial Corp.


Organizations

The Orange Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Bureau announced its 2000-2001 board of directors: Gary Mead, chairman of the board; Donald Saltivok, chairman-elect; Linda Schumacher, vice chair, community relations; Cindy Smith, vice chair, tourism; Richard Coombs, vice chair, government affairs; Vikki Murphy, vice chair, special events; Montri Chew, chief financial officer; and Barbara deBoom, president and chief executive officer.


Real Estate

Rancho Mission Viejo appointed Charles Ware director of governmental relations. Rancho Mission Viejo is responsible for the planning, development and financial management of a 30,000-acre plot in South Orange County.

Trish Alanis was named property manager for Opus West Corp., Irvine. Alanis will oversee the firm’s Southern California real estate portfolio.


Retail

John E. Martin, chairman of Diedrich Coffee Inc. and two other firms, joined the board of directors of Fsbuy.com.

El Pollo Loco, Irvine, named William Traynor director of operations. Traynor will oversee approximately half of the 122 restaurants in the El Pollo Loco chain.


Transportation

GoShip.com, Laguna Niguel, hired Troy S. Simmons as vice president of marketing. Previously, Simmons was the director of marketing for Gyrr Inc.
