VEA Newport Beach is partnering with Chef Angelo Sosa, a Season 7 finalist on Bravo’s “Top Chef,” to bring his new BESO Burger pop-up to the hotel’s EDGE Bar.
Sosa first launched the smashburger concept in San Diego in May. The 400-room VEA hotel is his second stop. BESO burgers and milkshakes topped with fries will be available at the poolside EDGE bar starting July 14 through September 30.
A few dishes from Chef Sosa’s Taqueria Amada will be served at VEA’s VIEW Restaurant & Lounge next month as well.
“I was that nine-year-old boy that my Tía Carmen would always say, ‘Papi, come here and give me a besito,’” or a little kiss, Sosa said at a media event on Tuesday. “She really showed me that food created from the purest place could transform anything.”
This is VEA’s first culinary partnership and occurs simultaneously with its new collaboration with Chicago’s improv institution The Second City – both part of efforts by VEA and Marriott to round out the resort’s summer event offerings. The hotel is a Marriott brand that is jointly owned by Newport Beach-based Eagle Four Partners and Lyon Living.
