Overair Inc. in Santa Ana has signed an agreement with Bristow Group Inc. (NYSE: VTOL) of Houston to collaborate on commercialization plans for Overair’s electric-powered Butterfly flying taxi.
Under the agreement, Overair expects to deliver 20 to 50 eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft to aviation company Bristow.
“Bristow’s decades of vertical lift experience will greatly enhance Butterfly’s path to commercialization,” said Overair Chief Executive Ben Tigner.
The statement issued by Bristow said both companies will work on an array of items including an operations development framework, key performance parameters, FAA certification, flight planning best practices, data sharing for improvement of flight operations, infrastructure and ground support operations.
Overair expects Butterfly to enter service in 2026.Â
