OC Unemployment Drops

The unemployment rate in Orange County fell to 4.1% in November, down from a revised 4.7% in October, and below the year-ago estimate of 6.6%, the California Employment Development Department said.

The local numbers compare with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.4% for California and 3.9% for the nation during the same period.

Orange County saw an increase of 9,500 non-farm jobs between October and November to almost 1.63 million.

Trade, transportation, and utilities added 4,500 jobs, the largest increase of any sector.

Construction lost 1,600 jobs, leading declines, while leisure and hospitality lost 1,000 jobs.
