Irvine-based Masimo Corp. is suing U.S. Customs and Border Protection over its recent ruling to allow Apple Inc. to restore blood oxygen technology back into select Apple Watch models.
It’s the latest development in a years-long patent dispute between the two companies that started in 2020 when Masimo first sued Apple for allegedly stealing trade secrets.
Apple on Aug. 14 announced that it would be integrating redesigned pulse oximetry features to the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
The Customs ruling reverses the U.S. International Trade Commission’s import ban on the select Apple Watch models in 2023.
