Rocket Lab Corp. said it has been selected by defense company Anduril Industries for multiple hypersonic test flights in a contract worth $30 million.
The multi-launch contract includes three HASTE hypersonic test launches that will take place from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 2 in Virginia, Rocket Lab said last week (Nasdaq: RKLB).
Each mission will serve as a testbed to accelerate the development of hypersonic technologies, fully funded through Costa Mesa-based Anduril’s own internal capital, according to Long Beach-based Rocket Lab. The first of the three missions is set to launch in less than 12 months.
Shares in Rocket Lab rose 11% to $117.35 apiece today for a market cap of $68 billion.
