The S&P 500 fell 0.6% to 3,214.8 in midday trading Friday.
The Dow Jones was down 0.5% to 26,523, while the Nasdaq fell 0.9% to 10,361.71.
Crude oil slipped 0.8% to $40.75.
Gold rose 0.3% to $1,896.10.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury was off 0.9% to 0.58%.
REAL ESTATE
Irvine homebuilder TRI Pointe Group Inc. (NYSE: TPH) fell 6.7% to $15.90 after reporting second quarter revenue and earnings that topped analysts’ estimates. The company, which had a recent market cap of $2.1 billion, reinstated its annual forecast where it cut the number of expected homes this year to 4,400 to 4,700 from a February forecast of 5,100 to 5,300 homes. The stock has still more than doubled since a 52-week low of $5.89 in mid-March.
RESTAURANTS
Shares of Del Taco Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: TACO) jumped 6.6% to $7.62 after releasing results for its second quarter. The restaurant operator, with a market cap of $282.6 million, said it’s seeing same-store sales improve month to month and is now ramping focus on brand building efforts in the vein of menu additions and digital marketing.
