Long Beach Airport Traffic Down 7%

Long Beach Airport traffic decreased 7.2% year-over-year in August to 325,100 passengers; year-to-date traffic is down nearly 14% to 2.4 million passengers.

JetBlue Airways represented 53% of total traffic, carrying 171,600 passengers, down 34% from the year prior. Southwest more than doubled its count to 112,800 passengers, making up 35% of the total.

Hawaiian Airlines carried about 11,200 passengers and the facility’s two other airlines, American and Delta, carried about 29,300 combined.

Cargo flown by FedEx and UPS fell 16% in the month to 1,671 tons. Charter flying from Long Beach dropped 45% to 140 passengers in August.
