Snowboarder Jordan Small to Open Burger Joint in Laguna Beach

Smashburger concept to open at historic 1,800-square-foot building on Coast Highway

Small’s Smash Club, a popular South Orange County restaurant started by former professional snowboarder Jordan Small, signed a five-year lease for its second spot on Coast Highway in Laguna Beach.

The restaurant, known for its smash burgers, tallow fries, and backyard-style barbecue, will occupy a historic 1,800-square-foot building from the 1920s at 2794 Coast Highway.
Newmark’s Managing Director Ian Brown and Associate Vanessa Brown-Pope represented Small.

“Prime coastal opportunities of this nature are incredibly limited in Laguna Beach,” Brown said in a statement. “Jordan has created a concept that strongly connects with the community, and this location offers the ideal setting to expand its success while honoring the property’s longstanding identity.”

Small started the smash burger concept as a backyard barbecue operation during the COVID-19 pandemic. He opened his first brick-and-mortar spot at 641 Camino De Los Mares in San Clemente last year.
