Pacific Wharf to be remodeled after animated film’s San Fransokyo

The Walt Disney Co. has released official renderings for the upcoming changes to Disney California Adventure’s waterfront boardwalk-theme stretch of land, Pacific Wharf.

Its new theme is modeled after the modern city in Disney’s 2014 animated feature film “Big Hero 6,” named San Fransokyo.

The updates will blend the two iconic cities in a region described as “where East meets West, and where tech meets tradition,” Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro said at the entertainment company’s D23 Expo last September.

The upcoming renovations were revealed last year among multiple new announcements and updates for the 500-acre Anaheim resort district, which includes theme parks Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, three hotels, and the Downtown Disney shopping district.

Other projects that were announced include the re-theming and construction of Pixar Place Hotel, a new ride attraction for the Marvel Studios-themed Avengers Campus, and new restaurants for Downtown Disney.
