FOUNDED: Semiconductor company founded in 2002 through merger of Alpha Industries Inc. and Conexant Systems Inc.’s wireless chip businesses.

LEGACY LEADERSHIP: Phil Brace took over the CEO role from long-time leader Liam Griffin in February 2025.

OC SIGNIFICANCE: Empowering the wireless networking revolution. Innovative analog and mixed-signal semiconductors connect people, places and things spanning a number of new and previously unimagined applications, including aerospace, automotive, broadband, cellular infrastructure, connected home, defense, entertainment and gaming, industrial, medical, smartphone, tablet and wearables. Global company with engineering, marketing, operations, sales and support facilities located throughout Asia, Europe and North America and is a member of the S&P 500 market index.

DEFINING MOMENT: In October 2025 said it had agreed to purchase smaller rival Qorvo Inc. to form a $22B business aimed at staying competitive in an increasingly intense semiconductor world. Merger also aims to counter declining sales. Deal expected to close in early 2027.

BY THE NUMBERS: Share price was $81.41 with $12.2B market cap as of May 28; down from $142 per share in August 2020. Has about 10,000 employees.

FUN FACT: Roots of the company date back to 1962 when Rockwell International, which had a key role in building the Apollo space program, began its semiconductor unit and in the 1990s spun it off, eventually becoming Conexant.
