QLogic Names Finance Chief

Aliso Viejo’s QLogic Corp., a maker of electronics for data storage networks, has tapped Jean Hu as chief financial officer and senior vice president.

Hu takes over the top financial position that was vacated last year by Simon Biddiscombe, who was promoted to chief executive.

Hu has more than 18 years of financial and corporate experience, most recently serving as finance chief and treasurer of Newport Beach-based Conexant Systems Inc.

Conexant makes chips for multifunction office printers, digital picture frames, PC speakers and other devices and has annual revenue of $200 million.

The company recently was taken private by San Francisco-based Golden Gate Private Equity Inc. in a $282 million buyout.

“Having known (Hu) for over 10 years, I am confident that along with her financial skills, she will bring a wealth of strategic and corporate development experience to our leadership team,” Biddiscombe said.

Hu had been at Conexant and its predecessor company, Rockwell International, since 1997 and held various senior level executive positions in financial planning, strategy and corporate development.

She will report directly to Biddiscombe in her new role.

Biddiscombe was QLogic’s senior vice president and chief financial officer since early 2008, when he was recruited from a similar post at Newport Beach chipmaker Mindspeed Technologies Inc.

Mindspeed was spun off of Conexant in 2003.
