Irvine’s Cylance Inc. may be sold to BlackBerry Ltd for as much as $1.5 billion, according to a Business Insider report that cited unidentified people familiar with the matter.
Cylance, which develops artificial intelligence products to prevent cyberattacks, has also considered filing an initial public offering, the website said.
A Cylance spokesperson said the company “cannot comment on an unsubstantiated story.”
Stuart McClure, who is chief executive, co-founded the company in 2012.
