WHO: Argyros family owns and runs Costa Mesa-based Arnel & Affiliates, a development and investment company started by George Argyros in 1968.
WHY: George Argyros and his family are notable philanthropists, well known for their work at Costa Mesa’s Segerstrom Center for the Arts, home to the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza and Center for Dance and Innovation. In 2022, family announced a “transformational” $25M gift to City of Hope Orange County; already had supported cancer hospital’s campus in Duarte.
IN THE NEWS: Chapman University in September announced a gift of $10M from the Argyros family, which has expanded the George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics into to the Argyros College of Business and Economics. The gift represents a significant milestone in the university’s history and reaffirms the Argyros family’s enduring commitment to education and philanthropy.
NOTABLE: Julia and George gave $15M to Hoag’s Julia Argyros Center for Nursing Excellence, announced earlier this month. The gift brings Argyros family’s total giving to Hoag to over $32M.
