Vans Inc. said Monday it intends to double the number of Black employees at its Costa Mesa headquarters by 2025.
The goal came with a number of other efforts at transparency around the action sports apparel and footwear company’s diversity initiatives for its workforce, stores, community relationships and marketing efforts.
The company said its U.S. office workforce make up is currently rounded to 61% white, 33% BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and 5% unknown.
Store employees in the U.S. is 36% white, 63% BIPOC and 1% unknown.
Vans said its U.S. directors are 77% white, 21% BIPOC and 2% unknown. The company said it aims to increase BIPOC in directors or higher positions to 25% by 2025.
On the marketing front, Vans aims to have half of the individuals it features or collaborates with in global campaigns be 50% BIPOC. Global product collaborations are set to see 30% representation from BIPOC by 2022. And, among Vans-sponsored athletes, the goal is to hit 35% BIPOC by 2024.
Locally, the company said it is bolstering its relationship with the non-profit Orange County Heritage Council and doing more to work with politicians and community leaders on advocacy around safe environments for BIPOC.
