Most Orange County automakers saw rises in sales last month.
Hyundai Motor America of Fountain Valley reported an 11% increase in year-over-year sales to 59,465 vehicles, a “best ever” September for the brand, company officials said. The Hyundai Tucson, a compact SUV, saw the highest sales, which were up 31% to 12,971.
“We are seeing month-over-month gains thanks in part to our strong product line-up and dealer network with plenty of cars in the pipeline for the remainder of the year,” Hyundai CEO Randy Parker said in a statement.
September sales for Kia America Inc. rose 6.4% to 56,270 vehicles. The Irvine automaker’s highest-selling car last month was the Kia Sportage, a compact SUV. Sales for the Sportage rose 88% to 12,412.
Genesis Motor America Inc., the luxury vehicle division of Hyundai, reported September sales were up 1% to 4,907 vehicles. Sales for the Fountain Valley automaker were led by its GV70, a compact SUV, which rose 2.2% to 1,639 vehicles.
Mazda North American Operations saw a 1.1% drop in September sales to 23,770 vehicles. The Irvine automaker’s highest selling vehicle was its CX-5, a compact SUV, Sales for the CX-5 were down 22% to 10,216.
