Rivian Taps Yahoo alum Michael Callahan as Chief Legal Officer

Former GC to LinkedIn and Yahoo

Rivian Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: RIVN) today said it appointed Michael Callahan to chief legal officer. He starts today in his new role at the Irvine EV maker.

Callahan, who counts over 30 years of legal experience, most previously worked as a professor and executive director at Stanford Law School’s Rock Center for Corporate Governance. Prior to that, he served as the general counsel at LinkedIn and Yahoo Inc. He also held a chief legal officer role at Irvine-based commercial real estate platform Ten-X.

“I’ve long admired what [Rivian CEO] RJ Scaringe and his team have been able to accomplish in their fight for a more sustainable future, and I am greatly looking forward to contributing my support and experience in pursuit of that mission,” Callahan said in a LinkedIn post.

Following the announcement, Rivian’s stock was little changed at $18.93 a share and a $17 billion market cap.

Rivian’s previous general counsel, Neil Sitron, left the company in September.
