Hyundai Motor America reported June sales fell 13% from the same period a year ago, with a total of 63,091 units.
The decline was led by the models Elantra, off 43%, Kona, down 27%, and Sonata, off 52%.
The Tucson SUV, The Fountain Valley-based automaker’s most popular model, rose 7% to 15,648.
“Consumer demand for our SUV lineup remains very strong,” Hyundai Senior Vice President Randy Parker said. “Our dealers are selling everything they get, and we are continuing our efforts on growing market share.”
The company said first half sales were down 16% to 343,867. Its executives have previously said the manufacturer, like others, is experiencing delivery problems.
