Disney Parks announced last Friday the opening for the rethemed ‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’ attraction, currently Splash Mountain, is slated for late 2024 at the Disneyland Resort.
The refurbished ride will be based off the 2009 Walt Disney Animations Studios’ film ‘The Princess and the Frog”, set during a Mardi Gras celebration in 1920s New Orleans, Louisiana. The original log ride opened at the Anaheim park in July 1989.
Walt Disney Imagineers were said to have conducted research of the city and consulted with local institutions and experts to design the new ride.
“The joie de vivre that animates this region so brilliantly not only inspired Tiana’s journey, but also our team at Walt Disney Imagineering,” Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering Ted Robledo said at the attraction’s celebration event.
While the project was first announced in 2020, there has been no confirmed date of when construction will begin at Disneyland or Walt Disney World in Florida.
