Genesis Motor America LLC reports January sales of 3,638 units, “a best-ever January” according to the brand. 2022 sales show an increase of 29% from last year with 2,814 sold in the first month of 2021. The Fountain Valley-based automaker’s 2022 GV80 led total sales making up 33% in total with 1,200 units sold. Genesis’ newest addition of its G90 sedan flagship, a refreshed and higher-tech version of the vehicle, sold 187 units.
The company is currently being led by interim CEO José Muñoz after former president and CEO Mark Del Rosso stepped down from the company in September. The CEO position remains open.
The luxury automaker saw the largest percentage gain in sales on the Business Journal’s list of automakers in 2021, reporting an increase of nearly 50% to 28,142 as of June 30. Sales continued to increase over the year as Genesis posted record numbers, November 2021 being the third month of sales exceeding 5,000 vehicles jumping 435% from a year ago.
