The Orange County Community Foundation in Irvine presented Chris Harrington, vice president of strategy and business development for Irvine-based Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., with a Power-Packed Philanthropist Award. The award was presented at the Orange County Business Council’s Workforce Development Conference. Harrington was honored for his charitable work for education and the environment. Toshiba America sells portable computers and other products and is part of Japan’s Toshiba Corp.
Debbie Baker, office manager for CT Realty Investors in Aliso Viejo, received a Jefferson Award from ABC7 television station in Los Angeles for her help in the search to find a cure for prostate cancer. She is founder of Cruisin’ For A Cure, a charity car show held each year at the OC Fair & Event Center. The Jefferson Award is given to people for their community service.
Dawn Tucker was named a winner of a 2009 California NurseWeek Nursing Excellence Awards. She was honored for her work in building nurse practitioner teams in Children’s Hospital of Orange County’s cardiovascular intensive care and surgical unit. She also led the redesign and update of the nurse practitioner credentialing process.

The honorees were designated in conjunction with the National Association of Women Business Owners.
Virginia’s National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors selected Larry Lambert for its John Newton Russell Memorial Award, a high honor awarded by the insurance industry. Lambert is past chairman and current secretary of the board of Fountain Valley’s Me-morialCare Health System and owner of LBL Insurance Services Inc. in Los Alamitos. The award recognizes service to the life insurance and financial advising industries.
Hai Vo, a 2009 graduate of the University of California, Irvine, received the 2009 Brower Youth Award. Hosted by Berkeley-based Earth Island Institute, the award is one of North America’s most prestigious prizes for young environmentalists. Vo was recognized for his efforts to change the dining systems at UC Irvine. He cofounded the UCI branch of the Real Food Challenge, a network of students who are attempting, by 2020, to shift 20% of university purchasing to food that leaves the least impact on the environment as possible.
California Sen. Lou Correa was named the California Small Business Association and California Small Business Roundtable Legislator of the Year for his work as an advocate for the small business community. Correa represents the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.
Torrance-based American Honda Motor Co., part of Japan’s Honda Motor Co., presented its Premier Partner Award to the Anaheim Ducks and the Ducks and Honda’s successful partnership in the Honda Center, where the Ducks play.
Lee Hausner, senior managing director of Irvine-based First Foundation Advisors, received a Thought Leader award at the annual Family Office Exchange Forum. Hausner was awarded for his role in shaping today’s private wealth management industry.
Los Alamitos-based Altametrics Inc. received Deloitte & Touche LLP’s Tech Evolution Award. The award recognizes companies for their innovative technology. Altametrics makes Internet-based software that helps restaurants manage and monitor costs, sales, inventory, supply, customer relationships, business intelligence and workers.
The California Integrated Waste Management Board named Waste Management of Orange County in Santa Ana as a recipient of its Waste Reduction Awards Program. The program recognizes businesses that have made efforts to reduce non-hazardous waste.
