RX3 Flag Tourney to Feature NFL Stars

The Hoag Classic golf tournament won’t be the only celebrity-filled event this weekend in Orange County.

RX3 Growth Partners, the firm co-founded by the famous quarterback Aaron Rodgers as well as Nate Raabe and Byron Roth, is scheduled to host its fourth annual flag football event March 15 at Saddleback College’s stadium in Mission Viejo.

The Saturday event will feature 10 teams each with 10 players being quarterbacked by stars like Sam Darnold, Bryce Young and Joe Flacco as well as Rodgers.

This year’s event features an expanded Kids Zone with a “mini-combine” and will have four fields instead of two as in past year to play more games.

“It gives everyone more access to watch the different games,” Raabe told the Business Journal. “Every year, the goal is to make it a better event for the players, the charities and anyone who comes out.”

In the three prior years, the event has raised close to $5 million. This year, it’s aiming to raise $3 million and exceed the 2,500 attendees at last year’s event. Part of that fund raising will come from charging a $50 “donation” to enter the event. Corporate sponsors are welcome, Raabe said.

Charities scheduled to benefit include the Enloe Health Foundation, Saddleback College Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

RX3 is a private equity fund that has raised more than $200 million to invest in consumer-facing products. Raabe last year was a recipient of a Business Journal Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award for successfully co-founding RX3 in 2018 with Rodgers and Roth, namesake of Roth MKM, the largest investment bank with headquarters in Orange County.
