Michelin-Rated Phở 79 to Move to Westminster

The Vietnamese American restaurant will move to a 6,450 square foot space

Phở 79, a restaurant recognized by Michelin and the James Beard Foundation, is moving from its longtime Garden Grove location to a larger space in Westminster. It will still be in Little Saigon.

The restaurant’s website says it will move this summer from its 3,000-square-foot spot at 9941 Hazard Ave. in Garden Grove to the former Grand Garden, a 6,450-square-foot space at 8894 Bolsa Ave. in Westminster.

Thọ Trần and Liễu Trần opened the restaurant in 1982 and named it after Vietnam’s most popular dish (pho) and the year 1979, when most of their family came to the U.S. from Saigon.

The restaurant is known for its homestyle Vietnamese dishes and pho, a dish of rice noodles in a rich beef broth topped with vegetables and brisket, raw tenderloin, chicken, meatballs or oxtail.

In 2019, the James Beard Foundation named Phở 79 one of America’s Classics. Michelin also gave it a Bib Gourmand, which honors restaurants that offer high-quality food at a good value.
