Chipotle Invests in Hyphen, Meati Foods

Investments from company’s $50M venture fund

Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) in Newport Beach is investing in Hyphen a foodservice platform designed to help restaurant owners, operators and budding chefs move their business forward by automating kitchen operations.

Chipotle is also investing in Meati Foods, a company focused on using proprietary, clean processes to provide nutritious, complete proteins made from mushroom root.

The investment amounts made by Chipotle’s Cultivate Next, its $50 million venture fund, were not specified in a statement today.

Shares in Chipotle closed down 0.5% at $1,368.04 apiece for a market cap of $38.3 billion.
