Puttin’ on the Ritz

Call me the prodigal diner.

It’s been a few years since I dined at Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, so I had lunch there last week and chatted with Executive Chef Andrew Litherland about his new Culinary Cookout series of two oceanfront dining events.

For more on my lunch, see next month’s column.

For something sooner, put the Ritz on the calendar for Friday, Sept. 13.

The Pacific Northwest Seafood Celebration is a family-style, multicourse dinner prepared in an outdoor kitchen so guests can engage with the chef and his team. The menu is impressive and celebrates Pacific Northwest ingredients, with—once again—wine pairings, this time from Oregon’s Ponzi Vineyards.

Second course?

Try Sunday, Oct. 20, when Coastal Brews and Bites, which replaces wine with beer and the Pacific Northwest with global-inspired street fare. The afternoon tasting event features some of SoCal’s most popular breweries.
