Parentis Health, a rapidly growing Laguna Hills-based care provider for the elderly, has acquired Irvine-based home care company Pop-in Care LLC to expand its local services for seniors.
Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.
The deal boosts Parentis’ employee base to well over 200, with more expansion expected, officials said. Three additional acquisitions are reportedly underway.
Serving All OC
Under the terms of the acquisition, Pop-in Care, a licensed California Home Care Organization, will continue to provide its suite of services as a subdivision of Parentis Health.
Pop-in Care caters to the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and those recovering from surgeries or other acute illnesses and says it “specializes in short visits, without minimum hourly or weekly time or visitation requirements.”
The company says it serves all of Orange County, along with Long Beach, Lakewood, Cerritos, Artesia, Norwalk, and La Mirada.
‘Ignored and Abandoned’
“We found synergy with Parentis in our approach to senior services, with both of us creating affordable services that people want and need,” Pop-in Care founder and Director Teri Frianeza said in a statement.
“We each make consistent efforts to put the needs of our clients first and are certain we can raise the standards of the industry.”
Frianeza founded Pop-in Care in 2018 after she saw a “group that others had ignored and abandoned,” Parentis Health Chief Executive Tarek El Nabli said.
“[Her] passion for providing this service and common vision with ours make Pop-in Care a perfect fit,” he added. “We will grow the business and make it even more successful in helping more seniors live longer, more independent lives.”
Both Pop-in Care and Parentis Health have many clients within major retirement communities in the area, including Laguna Woods, Leisure World Seal Beach, Vivante on the Coast in Costa Mesa, Atria Irvine, and Las Palmas in Laguna Hills.
‘Significant Growth’
Egypt-born El Nabli and his wife co-founded Parentis in 2003 after struggling to find quality care for his elderly mother. He had previously served as an insurance and financial planning executive for two decades.
The company, which counts over 200 employees to date, offers home care, hospice, and non-emergency medical transportation services for seniors.
In addition to its Laguna Hills headquarters and satellite offices in Cerritos and Riverside, Parentis has 13 residential care facilities under the Verona Court brand name.
Since the second half of 2021, the company has experienced “significant growth” revenue-wise, although exact revenue figures remain undisclosed, company officials told the Business Journal via email.
According to officials, Parentis Health’s employee headcount grew from 140 to over 200 in the last seven months, as it plans to expand its headquarters and its number of offices throughout Orange County this year.
