Lantronix Showcases IoT at Summit

Computer networking products maker  Lantronix Inc. showcased its latest devices to link various products to the internet for business purposes at a tech summit in Irvine this month.

The Irvine-based provider of secure data access and management solutions displayed its products for the industrial Internet of Things at the Ingram Micro IoT Summit, held at the Spectrum Marriott on Sept. 5.

The industrial Internet of Things generally refers to the various sets of hardware that work together through connected devices to enhance manufacturing and industrial processes.

“We are excited to provide our partner, Ingram Micro and their customers with a view of the Lantronix ecosystem,” said Jonathan Shipman, Lantronix vice president of strategy.

Storage Offerings

Specifically, Lantronix (Nasdaq: LTRX) featured its IoT Device Gateway family, the SGX 5150 and SGX 5150-MD IoT device gateway for medical devices.

It also introduced the newest member of the family, the SGX 5150 XL, which meets the needs of customers looking for increased storage of valuable data, without the need to buy flash storage.

It provides the ease of inserting and maintaining an external USB flash drive for purposes of data collection locally to the SGX 5150 XL.

$3 Trillion Market

The company’s connectivity products are deployed inside millions of machines serving a wide range of industries, including industrial, medical, security, transportation, retail, financial, environmental, and government.

Lantronix currently has 220 companywide employees.

The Internet of Things market segment is forecast to grow from about $3 trillion in 2014 to $8.9 trillion in 2020, with big gains across the industrial manufacturing, healthcare and life sciences segments, marketing researcher Statista has predicted.

Lantronix shares have gained about 31% so far this year, and were trading at about $3.88 apiece as of earlier this month, for a market cap of $80 million.
