Heidi Ueberroth, global business executive of the National Basketball Association, has stepped down as a director of Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver Inc. as she works on launching an NBA league in China.
Ueberroth, daughter of U.S. Olympic Committee Chairman Peter Ueberroth, joined Quiksilver’s board in late 2006.
She’s the NBA’s president of global marketing partnerships and international business operations for NBA.
Ueberroth is also a director of NBA China, which handles the league’s operations in China.
NBA China is in the process of forming a Chinese basketball league, but faces challenges from China’s state-run national league, the Chinese Basketball Association.
Ueberroth joined the NBA in 1994 and has spearheaded its efforts in China.
Quiksilver is a top maker of clothes inspired by surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding with yearly sales of about $2.5 billion.
