ARCHITECTURE

Greg Coghill was appointed chief operating officer of Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, Newport Beach. Coghill joined Wimberly Allison in 1983 and previously was senior vice president and managing director of the Newport Beach office. He will oversee architectural planning, design and consulting services for the firm worldwide.


AUTOMOTIVE

Kia Motors America Inc., Irvine, hired Peter Butterfield as executive vice president of sales and marketing. Previously, Butterfield worked for Ford Motor Co.’s Lincoln-Mercury division. Before that, he was executive vice president of Volvo’s car business, now part of Ford.


CONSTRUCTION

Frank Foster, president and chief executive of the Fieldstone Group of Cos., has been invited to join the board of the Fieldstone Foundation. The foundation was created in 1983 to support nonprofit organizations serving the communities where the company builds homes: Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties, and in Salt Lake City. Foster joined Fieldstone in 1986 and was appointed to the homebuilder’s board of directors in 1992.

Western Pacific Housing, Irvine, has named Tracey Long marketing manager of its Orange County/Inland Empire division. Long previously worked for a homebuilder in the Orange County area and will help develop market strategies, conduct market research and direct advertising agencies at Western Pacific. The company maintains five regional operating divisions throughout the state.

Judi Schweitzer has been appointed vice president of forward planning by Beazer Homes. Schweitzer will be responsible for assisting in identifying land acquisition opportunities, due diligence investigations on new land purchases and managing the forward planning staff. Schweitzer previously was vice president of forward planning at Capital Pacific Holdings Inc. Beazer Homes is based in Atlanta. Schweitzer will be work at the Southern California division, located in Orange.


FINANCIAL SERVICES

Newport Beach resident Tom Davin has joined private equity investment firm Brentwood Associates in the newly created position of operating partner. His association with Brentwood began in 1997, when Davin became director of Cobblestone Golf, a Brentwood portfolio company. Davin is the former chief operating officer of Taco Bell Corp. and a founding executive of its parent company, Tricon Global Restaurants. Most recently, Davin was chief executive and president of Entrepreneur.com.


INSURANCE

Carrie Johnson has joined Western Security Surplus Insurance Brokers Inc. as an underwriter for contract markets. She will work out of the company’s Orange County/San Diego office. She’ll be responsible for securing new markets and servicing Orange County. The Orange County/San Diego office recently moved to Los Alamitos.

First American Corp. has appointed Theodore H. Sprink president of the company’s UCC insurance division, where he will assume responsibility for the development and management of First American’s Eagle 9 Insurance Program. Sprink initially joined First American in 1998 as national director of affinity marketing. Prior experience includes positions at HomeFed Bank, Dun & Bradstreet Corp., Torrey Pines Bank and the National Association of Credit Management.


NONPROFIT

Santa Ana native Cyndee Edwards was selected by Good Sheperd Communities, Fountain Valley, to direct its programs and services in Southern California. Edwards previously served as the associate director of operations for Cole Vocational Services in Redlands. Good Sheperd Communities serves nearly 1,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities in group homes, supervised living, congregate settings and independent living arrangements in California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington.


PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

Keystone Pacific Property Management Inc., Irvine, has hired Margie Richter and Christine M. Padilla as community managers. Both will be responsible for managing Orange County community associations. Richer has more than 20 years’ experience in property management, with expertise in financial and budgeting processes, collections, contract negotiations due diligence and acquisitions. Padilla has 15 years in customer service, marketing and property management and most recently worked as a community director for a San Diego management company.


REAL ESTATE

Brian C. Childs has joined the Newport Beach office of NAI Capital Commerical as executive vice president and manager of the office, industrial and investment divisions. He has extensive experience in tenant representation, owner representation, technology services and property management, and is considered an expert in the convergence of communications technologies and commercial properties. Childs also will oversee day-to-day operations of the Newport Beach office.


TRANSPORTATION

The Orange County Transportation Authority has hired Olga Gonzalez as its clerk of the board. She will be responsible for overseeing all administrative support for the authority’s board of directors as well as for all official board and committee meetings. Previously, Gonzalez was employed for 12 years by the city of South Gate, where she provided support to the city council, city manager and city attorney. She was elected South Gate’s employee of the year in 2000.
