Gkkworks in Irvine hired Cynthia Mabus as senior project designer. She will work within the healthcare unit. Mabus has worked with Loma Linda University cancer center City of Hope in Los Angeles County and Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach.
HEALTHCARE
Regina Paolillo joined Newport Beach-based TriZetto Group Inc. as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Paolillo will lead the company’s financial strategy and all finance and accounting functions. She most recently was senior vice president of the operations group at private equity firm General Atlantic Partners.
LAW
Costa Mesa-based Rutan & Tucker LLP named Michael Adams and Hani Sayed partners. Adams has experience litigating for technology companies and homebuilders. Sayed is experienced in intellectual property licensing, development and due diligence.
Bobbie Eftekar joined the Costa Mesa office of Snell & Wilmer LLP as an associate specializing in product liability litigation. Eftekar has experience in business and general litigation with a focus on trademark, patent and copyright litigation. She previously was an associate attorney at two litigation firms in Silicon Valley.
Regan Forester joined Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps LLP’s Irvine office as an associate. Forester will be part of the firm’s real estate and environmental litigation practice group. Prior, she was an associate at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP in Los Angeles.
MEDIA
The board of the Media Alliance of Orange County named Brad Hagen of Video Resources Inc. in Santa Ana and Tim Keenan of Creative Media Recording in Cypress co-presidents. Kirk Lapple, a local voice-over actor, was named treasurer and John Coleman of Twin Oaks Communications in Mission Viejo was named secretary. Larry Goldsmith of Starlight Video in Irvine also joined the board.
NONPROFIT
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County hired Juliet Patino as office manager. She will support the organization’s work matching mentors with children in need. Patino previously was executive assistant for Silverado Senior Living in San Juan Capistrano.
Goodwill of Orange County named K. Brian Horton chairman of its board. Horton currently is president of Los Angeles-based 1st Enterprise Bank Inc., which has an office in Irvine.
The local chapter of the American Red Cross added nine members to its board. Stephanie Dexter is air/south hubs division manager for the Aliso Viejo office of United Parcel Service Inc. Suzanne Fradette is a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Irvine. Jonathon Kurtz is commanding officer of Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach. Andrea Preza is a student at Villa Park High School and president of the Red Cross’s local youth council. Jason Raefski is executive president and chief financial officer at Tustin-based Sunwest Bank. Scott Smith is chief executive of Orange-based Westbound Communica-tions. Yuri Vanetik is managing partner of private investment and advisory firm Vanetik International LLC in Orange. Steven Worthington is vice president of credit for Evangelical Christian Credit Union in Brea.
Marla Brower was named chair of the newly formed green committee of the local chapter of the Community Associations Institute. Brower is president of BHE Management Corp. in Laguna Niguel.

Verizon Wireless, part of Verizon Communications Inc., named Luis Cruz Southern California regional president. Cruz will be responsible for sales and overall company operations. He previously was president for the central Texas region, where he was responsible for directing sales, marketing, operations and financial performance. Cruz will be based out of Verizon Wireless’ Irvine campus.
