A few months ago, in the wake of America Online’s stunning
purchase of Time Warner, yours truly kidded that Broadcom shouldn’t think about buying the Anaheim Angels from Walt Disney Co. Rather, Broadcom should simply buy all of Disney, and keep the Angels and whatever else it wanted and sell off the rest.
A funny idea, but a dated one.
At last check, Broadcom, like its sector, had recovered some, but at the 152 level the stock was well below its 52-week high of 253. By contrast, Disney last week hit a 52-week high, the pressure on the company from Wall Street to make something happen had sharply subsided and a Disney official was saying the company wasn’t interested in selling the ball team.
Hmm, wonder if Disney’s checking out Broadcom
