Embattled Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corp. said on Tuesday its net loss for the nine months to Dec. 31 more than doubled from a year earlier, hit by a sales plunge in the United States and at home. Mitsubishi, whose North American unit is based in Cypress said its loss was $2.18 billion in the period. Revenue shrank by 11.7% as slight growth in Europe, helped by the new Colt compact car, and Southeast Asia were overwhelmed by a drop nearly everywhere else.
