Cardboard Box Maker Sets Up in Buena Park
By CHRIS CZIBORR
Cardboard box maker American Box Corp. last month paid $3 million for an industrial building at 6491 Caballero Blvd. in Buena Park. Beyond that, though, the company isn’t letting much out of the box.
Real estate sources said American Box will have about 25 employees at the 42,500-square foot site. The company declined to comment on the move.
American Box bought the site from Triple A Containers Inc., another box maker, which that recently moved from Buena Park to Cerritos.
American Box is a new company that sprung from an unnamed previous entity, according to Steve Sprenger of Grubb & Ellis’ Anaheim office, who, along with Randy Coe of Anaheim-based Colliers Seeley, worked on the building sale.
“They’ve been in the corrugating cardboard making business a long time,” Sprenger said. “This is just a new start-up for them. They expect to have pretty good growth over the next year.”
While details about American Box aren’t known, box makers can serve as an economic barometer as other companies order boxes to ship their products.
Triple A Containers recently moved and consolidated its former operations in Orange plus its Buena Park headquarters into a 109,000-square-foot space in Cerritos.
American Box hasn’t started operations yet, but already has some manufacturing equipment in the Buena Park building, according to Sprenger. The company is modifying the offices, including painting the exterior and interior of the building, he said.
The two-story, concrete tilt-up building, built in 1976, has four drive-in bays and a fenced yard. n
