Irvine-based Sperry Van Ness named Dave Bueche its Broker of the Year and Fouy Ly to its list of top 10 brokers. Ly has been ranked in the top 10 for three years. Geoff Tranchina and Jereme Snyder also were named to the top 10 list. During the past year, Tranchina completed 17 transactions valued at $177 million. Snyder closed 17 deals for $200 million.
Margaret Anne Inman and Stanley Pawlowski were honored by the Regional Center of Orange County and its board at the Regional Center of OC Spotlight Awards. Inman, who died at age 90 in February, founded the Providence Speech and Hearing Center. Pawlowski is a banking executive and has sat on the Providence board for more than 15 years.
Placentia-based Total Spectrum Advertising was recognized at the Davey Awards. Spectrum won a silver award for its creation of “The Bouncer” ad for Adams Rite Manufacturing Co. The ad was selected from more than 4,000 entries.
Ephraim P. Smith was named Manager of the Year by the Society for Advancement of Management. Smith is the vice president for academic affairs at California State University, Fullerton. He also sits on the board of the Fullerton Arboretum Commission.
Violet P. Woodhouse was named a Southern California Super Lawyer for the fifth consecutive year. Woodhouse has received a National Leadership Award and was a member of the National Republican Congressional Committee’s Business Advisory Council. She was named one of the nation’s top 200 financial planners by Worth Magazine.
Irvine-based Gkkworks received an award from the American Institute of Architects for its design of the Marie Kane Center at Chaffey Community College. The Gkkworks team included Kris Kay, Carlos Chavez, Edmund Einy, Michael McKay and Amit Bhargava.
Dana Bledsoe re-ceived the Excellence in Leadership Award from the Association of California Nurse Lead-ers. Bledsoe is vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
UC Irvine Extension presented Dean’s Outstanding Service awards to Dennis Evans and Mike Kollen. The award is given for advancement and support of university programs. It also honored instructors Aaron Baranoff, Craig Fucile, Thomas Lill, Judy Yorke and Marla Yoshida with the Distinguished Instructor Award.
The Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach honored more than 100 youths for citizenship and personal accomplishments. Youths of the Year were Tanner Flagstad, Blake Pivaroff and Erik Vasquez. Nathan Ong also was recognized for winning a photo essay contest. Members of the Month and their families enjoyed an evening hosted by the Ocean Institute.
Zachary Wadsworth and Michael Eglin won Pacific Chorale’s Young Composers Competition. Wadsworth wrote “Fantasy on a Theme of William Billings” and Eglin created “Barter.” The two works will be performed at Pacific Chorale’s American Treasures Concert at Segerstrom Hall at the Orange County Performing Artscenter.
Rich W. Vanis Jr. was honored at Verbum Dei High School’s Mardi Gras awards dinner. Vanis received the 2008 Spirit of Verbum Dei Award. Vanis is a partner at Archer Norris in Newport Beach and sits on the Verbum Dei board.
The Fullerton Chamber of Commerce held its Business Achievement Awards. Avonmore was named Small Business of the Year and Cafe Hidalgo Medium Business of the Year. Fullerton Community Bank won Large Business of the Year, while Crittenton Services for Children & Families received the Quality of Life Award. Shirley Thiele is owner of D’Ann Interiors and winner of Chamber Member of the Year.
Orange Lutheran High School named Jim Kunau Coach of the Year. Kunau has spent 15 years as head football coach. He has received county, state and national honors while compiling a record of 145-33 with three ties.
