Aliso Viejo-based KleenAir Systems Inc. said Wednesday it won a $10 million pact to sell auto emission control devices in China.
KleenAir earlier tapped Irwin, Pa.-based Airtek Inc. to help sell and distribute its products in China. The three-year China supply is with Chongqing Qinchuan Industrial Group Co.
Under the deal, KleenAir will supply China automakers with catalytic converters and filters that lower the amount of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and other particulates emitted by vehicles.
KleenAir and Airtek Inc. also will supply technical support services and technology to help Chongqing Qinchuan develop production of the devices in China.
Government emission regulations have tightened considerably as environmental issues have been given higher priority in Chinese policymaking, KleenAir said in a release.
“We expect over the next several years to use this contract as a platform to help bring advanced technology to China, the manufacture of which can be localized,” said KleenAir President Lionel Simons.
In May, KleenAir said in a filing that it would delay releasing its quarterly report for the period ended March 31 because it hadn’t completed its review. The company expects to post sales of about $24,000 in the period, according to the filing.
Shares of KleenAir, which trade on the low-profile over-the-counter bulletin board, doubled to 16 cents on Wednesday.
