PLAZA Garibaldi
Mexican restaurant and mariachi dinner theater. Shows on weekends, including Sunday brunch. Lunch and dinner daily. 500 N. Brookhurst St., Anaheim, (714) 758-9014.
Plaza Garibaldi mixes Mexican revelry with Anaheim camp. The food, carne asada, fajitas, shrimp combos,is great. Figure $20 per person, which covers the real draw, the floor show. The traditional Mexican dancers, some with all the flare of Spanish flamenco dancers, are riveting. The mariachi band is corny at times but overall top-notch,there’s not an accordion in the place. Be aware, though, Plaza Garibaldi is authentic. If Gustaf Anders is your idea of mixing it up, then this may not be for you. Downtown Disney’s Y Arriba Y Arriba offers a more, well, Disneyized bit of Latin music and entertainment. But while Plaza Garibaldi is big among local Hispanics, it’s great for others too. If you’re up for a change of pace, it’s worth a go on your next birthday, company party or Saturday night out.
