Brea-based J2 Marketing Services Inc., a marketing communications agency serving high technology, industrial and business-to-business clientele, has received the standard of excellence award in the WebAward 2001 competition.

The newly designed Holiday Inn Costa Mesa Orange County Airport won the excellence in lodging and hospitality award presented by the California Lodging Industry Association, honoring the hotel’s recently completed $9 million refurbishment. The hotel is owned and operated by Hanford Hotels LLC of Newport Beach.

Kevin F. Priestley, a Corona del Mar chiropractor for 20 years, was recently inducted into the Tennessee Swimming Hall of Fame at a ceremony held at his alma mater, the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Orange County-native Marta Rodriguez, the top producing sales associate at Century 21 Grisham-Joseph recently celebrated her 8th year in the real estate industry. Rodriguez services North Orange County and the southeast area of Los Angeles County.

Guy J. Roney III, senior vice president of Costa Mesa-based Corporate Capital Group has been awarded the certified investment member designation by the CCIM Institute. Additionally, Stephen A. Sanders, associate vice president of Grubb & Ellis’ Anaheim office also has received CCIM’s designation. The CCIM designation is awarded to commercial real estate professionals upon completion of a graduate-level curriculum and attainment of a level of qualifying experience.

Newport Beach-based advertising agency Lawrence & Ponder Ideaworks won three gold medal awards and received five additional creativity awards in the 2001 Creativity 31 Competition. Winners are chosen for inclusion in the 2002 Creativity 31 annual, which is published by HarperCollins Publishers Inc.

The South Orange County Community College District Forensics Team picked up their fourth first place team sweepstakes award for the academic year at a tournament held at Pasadena City College. Junior and novice competitors from 26 schools competed.

Charley Wilson, a Santa Margarita Water District board member, was selected to serve a one-year term as a board member on the Association of California Water Agencies for region 10, which encompasses Orange and San Diego counties.

Kleinfelder Inc. was named the sixth best civil engineering firm to work for by CE News Magazine in its October issue. Kleinfelder has offices throughout Southern California, including a large office in Irvine.

Photo specialty e-commerce site RitzCamera.com, Irvine, was named one of the best of the Web for 2001 by Forbes magazine.

Bryan Zatica, president of Santa Ana-based Macro-Z-Technology Co. has been named the 2002 minority small business person of the year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Craig Jackson, president of Yorba Linda-based Sanders Engineering Co. was named second runner-up in a national competition for minority small business graduate of the year.

Irvine-based architecture firm LPA Inc. will be recognized for the design of three public projects in Long Beach at the AIA Design Awards. The award-winning buildings are: CSU Chancellor’s Headquarters, Broadway Golden Elementary School and Long Beach Maintenance Facility.

The Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau was recognized by Meetings and Conventions Magazine with the Gold Service Award at the 2001 Gold Awards Gala in New York City.

Dean Steward, vice president of Orange-based National Management Co. has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Association of Messenger and Courier Services. AMCS is a non-profit industry association of businesses in the time-sensitive transportation of goods and documents.

John Wilson of State Farm Insurance and Evelyn Gibson of Ambassador Advertising have been elected to the board of directors for Court Appointed Special Advocates of Orange County. CASA provides trained volunteer mentors to serve as role models and a voice in court for neglected Orange County children that have been removed from their parents.

Irvine-based Mybar Printing Inc. has received the Clean Air Star Award from the South Coast Air Quality Management District. The South Coast AQMD is the smog control agency for Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
