Johnny So was named general manager of the Disneyland Pacific Hotel in Anaheim. So, who was most recently vice president of hotel operations for the Desert Inn Resort in Las Vegas, replaces Tony Bruno, who was recently named GM for Disney’s new Grand Californian Hotel under construction at California Adventure.
“It’s a treat to be here,” So said. “I’m fortunate to inherit a great hotel and cast members.”
So said his mission as general manager will be to bring the hotel service level up another notch, “in line with the repositioning of the resort” that is taking place with the addition of a second theme park, the Grand Californian and Downtown Disney, a retail and entertainment center that will complement the two theme parks and the resort properties.
So, a 29-year hospitality veteran, is also a previous manager of Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson and director of restaurants for Loews Anatole in Dallas. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii.
So said he is looking at homes in OC, most recently in Rancho Santa Margarita. He lives with his wife, Amy, a homemaker, two sons, ages 12 and 10, and their pet beagle.
Besides family activities, So said he plays golf, but,despite living on site at golf resorts in the past,said he’s not very good. “I try to break 100,” he said.
