Philip J. Garcia has been named director of the business valuations practice in Southern California for accounting and consulting firm BDO Seidman LLP, a position that has been vacant for about a year.
Garcia will develop specialized services in corporate finance and business valuation for small- to intermediate-sized businesses in LA and Orange counties.
“The company was a good fit for me to realize my practice development, which is with LA and Orange County technology-based clients,” Garcia said. “It’s large enough to have the professional expertise of a national and international firm, but small enough to know the people and principles of the firm.”
Garcia most recently worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was responsible for developing the corporate finance and valuation advisory practice in Southern California. He is a 24-year veteran of the industry and has periodically provided appraisal services and testimony for the LA County Superior Court.
He will divide his time between BDO’s Costa Mesa and Century City offices and oversee a staff of about 15 that is projected to grow in the coming year.
BDO Seidman has approximately 40 offices across the U.S.
Garcia’s wife of five years is director of media for Lions Gate Films. The couple live in Seal Beach with their two daughters, Heather who is a CPA, and Lisa who is a junior in college.
