Orange County’s unemployment rate fell to 3.8% in March from a revised 4.0% in February and below the 3.9% in March last year, according to the state’s Employment Development Department.
The state’s unemployment rate was 5.2% while the U.S.’s was 4.3%.
Nonfarm OC employment rose to 1.68 million, up 6,200 jobs.
The sector of private education and health services rose the most, 3,900, led by a 3,400 increase in ambulatory health care services.
Five sectors declined, led by trade, transportation and utilities, off 900 jobs.
The state gained 28,700 nonfarm jobs in March, for a total of 18.1 million.
