Angel Stadium of Anaheim is set to host baseball’s 2010 All-Star Game in what could be a $75 million economic boost to the city.
Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig is expected to announce Anaheim’s hosting of the game Wednesday at Angel Stadium, according to published reports.
The league estimates the economic impact of hosting the game at $75 million, second only to the World Series at an estimated $250 million.
The exhibition game, in which the best players from the National and American leagues face off, is expected to play out over several days with related events.
The Angels last hosted the All-Star game in 1989.
The team and city officials, which have had strained relations since the 2005 name change to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, worked together on the All-Star game bid.
A lawsuit by the city against owner Arte Moreno’s Angels Baseball LP is ongoing.
