Santa Ana-based Advanced Medical Optics Inc. has struck a patent licensing deal with Carl Zeiss AG of Germany, ending litigation it acquired in its $800 million buy of Irvine’s IntraLase Corp. in April.
Under the deal, Advanced Medical is licensing its technology for eye surgery to Carl Zeiss. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
Late last year, IntraLase sued Carl Zeiss for allegedly breaching a contract that exposed Carl Zeiss to IntraLase patent’s and other business information.
IntraLase, a maker of lasers for eye surgery, charged that Carl Zeiss “wrongfully induced” it to disclose confidential business information.
The suit sought damages for breach of contract and payment to IntraLase of all revenue and profits derived by Zeiss from the sale and use of its laser.
