Hamanaka Adds Web Duties for OCBJ

Hamanaka: keeps several beats, hands Marketing and Media column to Kulicke

Kari Hamanaka has been named Web editor of the Orange County Business Journal and will oversee daily coverage at ocbj.com as well as eNews updates.

Hamanaka will remain a staff reporter, covering apparel, retail, restaurants, tourism and Orange County-based automakers. She will turn over the weekly Media and Marketing column, along with coverage of local auto dealers, to Heidi Kulicke, who adds those responsibilities to her duties as research director.

Dana Truong will go from researcher to associate research director, taking on more responsibility for the Business Journal’s weekly list.

Hamanaka has been with the Business Journal for a year and a half and has distinguished herself with insightful coverage of various industries. She was a reporter for the Daily Journal legal newspaper in Los Angeles and California Real Estate Journal before joining the Business Journal. She is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton.

Kulicke joined the Business Journal in February from Editor & Publisher, where she was a writer and the associate editor. She previously served as research editor for Utah Business magazine in Salt Lake City. Kulicke is a graduate of Utah State University.

Truong is a recent graduate of Cal State Fullerton.

“These changes clear the way for Kari to bring a new energy to our coverage and Heidi to maintain the quality and focus of the marketing and media column to reflect that vibrant segment of our business community,” said Jerry Sullivan, editor of the Business Journal. “Dana’s expanded role amounts to another addition to our efforts to constantly improve the quality of the Business Journal.”
